Medication Aide Program

The Medication Aide Training Program is an in-person course that provides students with the education and skills to safely assist the nursing department with medication administration.

(In-person 14-week program)

Additional information:

Assists With Medication Administration Under Nurse Supervision 

  • Documentation Of Medication Dosages And Time Of Administration
  • Observe And Document Patients/Resident’s Responses To The Medication Administration. 
  • Understand the importance of respecting patient/resident’s rights. 


Finish In 14 weeks


What’s required:

  • Must be 18 yrs old
  • Unexpired driver's license (or government-issued ID or state issued ID)
  • SSN card
  • HS diploma (or GED or transcript of highest grade completed.  If the diploma/GED/HS Transcript is from a foreign entity, at your own expense, it will be required to have the HS diploma/GED evaluated for US-based equivalence)
  • Active CNA license in good standing and employed as a CNA or non-licensed direct care staff in: Nursing facilities, Intermediate care facilities for individuals with an intellectual disability or related conditions, Correctional institutions, Assisted living (personal care) facilities
  • 90-days previous employment experience during the past year
  • Letters of recommendation from your employer's DON or Administrator
  • CPR certification (if you do not have a current CPR certification, we provide CPR at a discount for CCHT enrolled students)
  • TB with negative results within the past 6 months (if you do not have a current TB negative result, you will be required to obtain prior to the end of the first week of class)
  • Vaccinations - COVID, Influenza, and Hepatitis B (if you do not have either, you have the option of signing the declination form)
  • FBI fingerprinting (not required to get started but will be required prior to finishing the program)

Job outlook

The average hourly wage for a Medication Aide in the United States is $16 as of January 2023, with a typical range between $15 to $18 per hour.  While the typical hourly range is standard, the hourly wage increases with agency assignments.
